“The Mayfair dress was unlike any other wedding dresses I’d seen before - romantic yet contemporary with a hint of whimsical to it. After trying it on, nothing else compared to it. I still pinch myself when I look at photos from our wedding day – I can’t believe I got to wear it.”
Newlyweds Lucy and Alex married last summer in the rolling hills of the South Downs, a scenic backdrop for their special day. The couple wanted to embrace their venue’s beautiful surroundings and their love of the outdoors. Their ceremony was held in a woodland with hundreds of flowers grown by Lucy’s mum dotted around — a truly enchanted atmosphere full of colour and life.
Lucy’s wedding dress search brought her to our Woburn Walk boutique. “I knew that I wanted my first experience to be a special one,” Lucy said. “I am so happy that I chose Halfpenny London for this. Walking into the flagship boutique, I was mesmerized! It is such an uplifting and joyful place to spend time searching for your bridal pieces.
I instantly felt relaxed and understood by the lovely Lola who took me on a journey of lots of different looks. Lola was interested in me as a person, and which pieces spoke to me and made me feel comfortable. I loved her warmth, creativity and dedication to helping me to visualize myself as a bride. The whole experience was very special and something I will treasure.”

Lucy had her eye on our Mayfair dress for a while, and was excited to try it on. “I couldn’t stop thinking about it (even before I tried it on!). It was unlike any other wedding dresses I’d seen before - romantic yet contemporary with a hint of whimsical to it which felt like my kind of style. Since our wedding venue was largely outside, with a woodland ceremony I wanted to wear something that would speak to this. The Mayfair dress really spoke to the woodland magic!
After trying it on, nothing else compared to it. I felt so elegant and most importantly, comfortable in it. I knew it was the dress I wanted to marry Alex in. It is the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen and I still pinch myself when I look at photos from our wedding day – I can’t believe I got to wear it.”
To complete her look, Lucy carried a wildflower bridal bouquet sourced from a local flower farm. She also wore moonstone earrings and a pair of Loeffler Randall shoes as her something blue.
I love seeing the joy on Lucy and Alex’ faces on these beautiful images, we couldn’t be happier to have played a small part in their day. We wish them all the love in the world.
Love,
Kate & the Halfpennys xxx
